to practise deception
In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, Taizong Li Shimin led an army to crush Koryo. After Gai Suwen was broken in Liaodong and Gai Suwen fled back to the Korean Peninsula by sea, Taizong prepared to cross the sea to attack Koryo.
But when he came to the seaside, Taizong looked in front of the horse and saw that the sea and the sky met each other, and the boundless sea made Taizong dizzy and nearly fell off his horse.
Therefore, when the army was about to cross the sea, Taizong refused to get on board anyway.
The generals tried hard to persuade each other, but all to no avail.
When Zhang Shigui, the marching director, returned to the big account and was at his wit's end, Deputy General Xue Rengui walked into the big account and said to Zhang Shigui, "are adults worried that the emperor refuses to cross the sea?"
After Xue Rengui whispered in Zhang Shigui's ear, Zhang Shigui nodded and called it a "brilliant plan."
A few days later, Taizong was led into a luxurious hall, and Taizong drank with the generals until he was drunk in front of the table.
The next day, Taizong woke up, drunk, he looked at the room, only to find that the room was beautifully decorated, even the windows were hung with beautiful satin.
It was not until the third day that Taizong completely woke up from drunkenness.
As soon as he walked out of the house, he was dumbfounded. It turned out that he was standing on a building ship, under which there was endless blue water.
In this way, Tang Taizong, who refused to board the ship, was cleverly extradited across the sea.
Although both of them are deceptive to some extent, their motives, nature and purposes are different and should not be confused.
The use of the art of war in this plan is often focused on whether people have consciously produced omissions and laxity due to their familiarity with certain things in observing and dealing with world affairs, so they can take advantage of falsehood and conceal the truth, cover up certain military actions, and seize the opportunity to win by surprise.
