Carp jump the Dragon Gate

According to ancient Chinese legend, the Yellow River carp jumped over Longmen (the Yellow River canyon northwest of Hejin, Shanxi Province) and changed Jackie Chan.

It is a metaphor for the rise of the Chinese people, such as promotion and promotion.

It is also a metaphor for moving forward against the current and striving forward.

A long time ago, before the dragon gate was cut open, the Yi water was blocked by the quilt Longmen Mountain, and a big lake was accumulated in the south of the mountain.

Carp who live in the Yellow River want to go sightseeing when they hear that Longmen has a good scenery.

They set out from the Yellow River in Mengjin, Henan Province, through the Luo River and along the Yi River to the Longmen splash mouth, but there was no waterway on Longmen Mountain, so they had to gather at the foot of the north mountain of Longmen.

"I have an idea. How about we jump over Longmen Mountain?"

A big red carp said to everyone.

"how can you jump so high?"

"if you don't dance well, you will fall to your death!"

Well, the guys can't make up their minds.

The red carp volunteered and said, "I'll jump first and have a try."

I saw it use all its strength from half a mile away, like an arrow from the string, jumping into the clouds for a long time, driving the clouds and rain in the air.

A sky fire chased from behind and burned off its tail.

Enduring the pain, it continued to leap forward, and finally crossed Longmen Mountain and fell into the lake in Shannan, turning into a giant dragon in the blink of an eye.

Seeing this, the carps in the north of the mountain were so scared that they dared not take the risk again.

At this time, I suddenly saw a huge dragon falling from the sky and said, "Don't be afraid. I am your partner, Big Red Carp, because I jumped over the Dragon Gate and became a dragon. You have to jump bravely, too!"

Hearing these words, the carps were encouraged and began to jump next to Longmen Mountain one by one.

But with the exception of individual jumps into dragons, most of them can't get through.

Those who can't jump over and fall from the air will have a black scar on their forehead.

To this day, this black scar still grows on the forehead of the Yellow River carp.

Later, Li Bai, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty, wrote a poem specifically for this matter: "the three-foot carp of the Yellow River, originally living in Mengjin, did not become a dragon and returned with ordinary fish."

Extended data:

As the saying goes, "Carp jumps into Longmen", which is a metaphor for carp's habit of diving.

Carp and many other fish like to dive.

Different fish have different diving skills.

Some fish jump very high, such as a kind of fish called "jumping fish", which can jump four to five meters out of the water, which can be said to be the "champion of the high jump" among the fish.

Carp can sometimes jump more than a meter out of the water.

Why do fish dive?

According to the analysis of scientists, it is generally believed that there are several reasons.

Some are caused by changes in the surrounding environment, such as the earth's magnetic field changes on the eve of the earthquake disaster, and fish feel threatened, such as crossing obstacles on the way in order to avoid a sudden attack from the enemy; or for reasons such as sudden intimidation.

The instinctive reaction of fish to survive.

Another reason is physiological changes. When the fish is about to reproduce, the body produces something that can stimulate the nerves, making it in a state of excitement, so it especially likes to jump.

Sturgeon to Longmen is not for "leaping Jackie Chan", but to reproduce.

The book "study on Biology and artificial Propagation of Yangtze River Sturgeon" written by the investigation Group of Yangtze River Aquatic Resources in Sichuan Province says that Sturgeon spawn "mostly in the upper reaches of the river, with low water temperature, high flow velocity and complex flow patterns. The river is wide and narrow and has a gravel bottom.

The Longmen area at the junction of Shan and Shaanxi provinces has the above geomorphological features, so it has become an ideal place for Sturgeon to gather and lay eggs.

"Longmen Chihe" phenomenon is because Sturgeon male and female chase before spawning, often jump out of the water.

A large number of Sturgeon swim back to Longmen Cave every spring and jump frequently two or three days before spawning.

When jumping out of the water, the red fin of Sturgeon also came out of the water. For a time, thousands of big fish turned over in the river, looking at a piece of red light from afar, so the scene of "Chihe" appeared.

Because of the large number of fish, it can be as long as several miles, and it can also last for several days, that is, it forms the special phenomenon of "Chihe three days" and "Chihe Sanli".

When the fish is fished out of the water, it will also jump about, the reason is that when the fish swims in the water, the muscles of the whole body always stretch and shrink, shaking its head and tail in order to make it move forward in the water.

When it first left the water, it was still doing the same action as it was in the water, but because it was not resisted by the water, the movement of shaking was particularly large, and if it came into contact with relatively solid objects such as the ground and the ship board, there was the phenomenon of jumping about.

In fact, modern science can solve the mystery of "carp leaping the dragon gate": the "carp" here is actually "tuna", or "carp", also known as "carp" or "yellow croaker", that is, Sturgeon.

Sturgeon is a river-sea swimming fish, with a body length of about two meters, with a maximum length of more than 5 meters.

China's rare animals Chinese Sturgeon, Northeast Sturgeon, Yangtze River Sturgeon are such fish.

Because the ancient big carp is also known as "Kui", the ancients mixed "tuna fish" with the big carp and spread it as "carp fish leaping Longmen".

The Zhu Shu Ji Nian is the work of the historians of the Wei State at the end of the warring States period. the record of "Longmen Chihe" in the book shows that the mythological story of "Carp and Fish leaping over Longmen" has not yet been formed at that time.

On the other hand, most of the records of "Fish into Dragon" come from the ancient books of the Han Dynasty, so the fairy tales were formed in the early Western Han Dynasty, and may be related to the strengthening of the concept of dragon worship in the early Han Dynasty.
